We love salads because they are tasty and easy to make, but remember that it's easy to turn a delicious salad into something unhealthy. Avoid creamy bottled dressing and stick with light helpings of dressing made from olive oil and you will be much better off.

A golden rule is to try not to eat anything that has more than four grams of sugar per serving. This will save a lot of calories and it is particularly helpful for you to follow this rule if you are unfortunate enough to be stricken with diabetes.

Instead of eating potato chips as a snack at the end of the night, go into the fridge and peel several apple slices. Apple slices are a very nutritious and tasty snack that you can substitute; with a fraction of the calories that you will get from eating potato chips.

When trying to add the nutrition of grains to your diet, be sure to read package labels carefully. Products that claim to contain nutritious grains may not be providing the whole grain that is essential for good nutrition. Look for the words "whole grain" on the label to make sure you are making the most nutritious choice for your body.

When considering a diet that provides an adequate nutrition level, be sure to include low fat milk. Milk provides many nutrients - including calcium and protein - that the body needs. Studies have shown that drinking milk does benefit both muscle growth, and also the body's ability to maintain a healthy body fat content.

Puree up your favorite fruits, especially those that are over-ripe and about to be thrown away, and use these as sauces for pancakes; pour over chicken as a sweet and sour sauce; or use where some sweetness would be a nice touch. Remember not to add any extra sugar though. The fruit should provide all the sweetness you need.
