India & The Presence Of Organic Farming

By Rob Sutter

The efforts that are seen within organic farming are, in my eyes, some of the best that can be considered. There are various crops that are going to be grown and the truth of the matter is that fresh food is going to be seen at a high level these days. You can look to the growing demand for this, especially the most recent developments that have been made in India. I did not realize this to be true until I was able to read a recent report on the matter.

A recent article went into detail about the Economic Times and how it seems as though organic farming has seen a great increase in India. Keep in mind that society, in general, is becoming far more focused on the presence of healthy food, so it's not too surprising that fruits and vegetables would be able to come in effect. In addition, take into account how health-conscious India, in particular, has become. This is where organics come into play and they are ones which networks like Colle Farmers Market are able to endorse.

I was surprised to see just how much higher the price was of these crops that farmers were able to get their hands on. The article said that farmers have been able to attain 118% higher price for their leafy vegetables alone. Compare this to the 53% for selling grain and you will start to see that there is much more of a focus on selling produce and rightfully so. There is so much to consider in the way of growth and how consumers and farmers have been able to benefit.

In fact, the relationship between the grower and the consumer is easily one of the most organic that you can imagine, ironically enough. Keep in mind that farmers, typically, have to make their business on a local basis, meaning that they have to appeal to those who live nearby. In return, consumers are able to do business with growers, making absolutely certain that they are paid for their efforts. Giving business to a smaller establishment holds a bevy of incentives that work to help both parties.

It goes without saying that India has been able to benefit tremendously from the growth of organic farming efforts seen. It is one of the most economic choices that have been made but I feel as though the idea of health is something that should be focused on as well. It seems as though various crops have been able to come to the surface, each of them able to help potential consumers. With India's focus on this level of farming strong, other areas may soon follow suit.
