Important Details On Gymnastics In Delaware

By Georgia Diaz

Gymnastics in Delaware involves a lot of physical and vigorous exercises that entails the use of agility, power, flexibility, power, coordination and balance; it is regarded as a type of sport worldwide. This sport like all other popular sports is governed by an international body that is run by experts in this field. Every state however has its own rules regarding the sport.

The sport has been divided to include different categories totaling seven in number; acrobatics, trampoline, group, tumbling, men artistic and women artistic gymnastics. The events range according to the type of category that the athletes participate in. Some events include high bar, pommel, parallel bar, vaults, balance and uneven beams.

In the female category all the participants are ladies; the participants can be as young as seven years old. However the minimum age for one to be eligible in an Olympics event is sixteen years. The ladies must have strong psychological skills because the tricks performed are difficult and involve intense pressure. Women mostly compete in four events.

Men competition involves a lot of vigorous exercises than that of women. Males take part in the sport when they reach puberty and thus not as young as ladies. This is because men need to be strong enough to participate. The same age limit as that of ladies applies when it comes to Olympic event. For the men, they are allowed to take part in as many as six categories.

Rhythmic performance requires the participants to manipulate ballet and dance moves. Performances involved are jumps, leaps and tosses using apparatus such as ropes, ribbons, hoops and balls. Athletes can participate in groups or as individuals; this is a woman-only sport.

Both men and women can participate in trampoline events. Athletes are allowed to perform individually or in pairs, however if in pairs then the athletes are required to complete synchronized moves. The moves involved are high-flying twists and flips with each bounce.

Olympics do not include tumbling events. However, it is performed both locally and internationally. The category involves a bouncing spring board. The bouncing surface allows the participant to do very complicated twists and flips which makes it more interesting. Two passes must be performed at each stage and each pass includes eight elements.

In acrobatic gymnastics, no apparatus is used. The only tool allowed is the body of the athlete; participants take part in the event in groups. They are required to perform balances, handstands, throw and catch each other. Pairing is not restricted to gender, men can pair not only pair with other male but also female.

Team gym is the same as group gymnastics in Delaware and comprises of six to sixteen participants. Similar to acrobatics the groups can be of the same gender or mixed. Tumbling, mini-trampoline, vault and floor exercises are allowed in this event. Despite being an interesting local and international event performers cannot do this event in an Olympics since it is not included. However, in future this events may be included as part of the Olympics.
